Step 2: Turn Off Power
Turn off circuit breaker for ceiling light. Test with voltage tester to confirm power is off. Remove existing light fixture. Identify wires: black (hot), white (neutral), green/bare (ground).
3 Step 3: Install Fan-Rated Box

Step 3: Install Fan-Rated Box
Standard light boxes can't support fan weight. Install fan-rated ceiling box (rated for 50+ lbs). Attach to ceiling joist or use brace bar between joists. Box must be firmly secured.
4 Step 4: Assemble Fan Motor
Step 4: Assemble Fan Motor
Follow manufacturer instructions. Attach fan blades to blade irons. Connect downrod to motor housing. Pre-wire if possible before lifting to ceiling.
5 Step 5: Connect Wiring
Step 5: Connect Wiring
Hang fan motor on mounting bracket hook. Connect wires with wire nuts: white to white, black to black, green/bare to ground. If fan has light, you may need separate switch - connect blue wire to second hot wire.
6 Step 6: Attach Blades and Test
Step 6: Attach Blades and Test
Secure canopy to mounting bracket. Attach fan blades to motor. Install light kit if included. Turn power on. Test all speeds and direction switch. Check for wobble.
7 Step 7: Balance if Needed
Step 7: Balance if Needed
If fan wobbles: 1) Tighten all screws, 2) Measure blade heights (should be equal within 1/8"), 3) Use balancing kit - clip weight to blades one at a time to find problematic blade, then stick weight permanently.
