Step 2: Turn Off Power and Remove Old Unit

TURN OFF BREAKER for disposal circuit. Test with voltage tester. Place bucket under unit. Disconnect dishwasher drain hose. Disconnect drainpipe. Use disposal wrench or screwdriver to rotate mounting ring counterclockwise, release disposal.

Step 3: Remove Sink Mounting Assembly

Only if replacing with different brand. From under sink, loosen 3 mounting bolts. Push up on sink flange from above. Remove putty from sink opening. Clean thoroughly.

Step 4: Install New Mounting Assembly

Roll plumber's putty into rope, apply around sink flange. Press flange into sink opening. From below, slide on fiber gasket, backup ring, mounting ring. Tighten 3 bolts evenly until snug. Clean excess putty from top.

Step 5: Wire the Disposal

Remove electrical plate on disposal. Connect wires: white to white, black to black, green (ground) to green screw. Replace plate. If hardwired (no plug), connect Romex cable the same way.

Step 6: Mount Disposal and Connect Plumbing

Lift disposal, align with mounting tabs, rotate mounting ring clockwise until locked. Connect discharge tube to drain pipe with slip nut. If dishwasher: knock out drain plug with screwdriver, connect hose.
