For minor clogs in kitchen sinks: boil a full kettle of water. Remove standing water if possible. Pour boiling water directly down drain in 2-3 stages, waiting a few seconds between pours. Works best for grease clogs.

Fill sink with 2-3 inches of water. Cover overflow opening with wet rag. Place plunger over drain, creating seal. Push down and pull up vigorously 15-20 times. Break seal and check if water drains.

Pour 1/2 cup baking soda down drain. Follow with 1/2 cup white vinegar. Cover drain with plug or wet rag. Wait 30 minutes. Flush with boiling water. Repeat if needed. Good for organic material clogs.

For sink clogs: place bucket under P-trap (U-shaped pipe under sink). Loosen slip nuts by hand or with pliers. Remove trap, empty into bucket. Clean out any debris. Reinstall, hand-tighten nuts plus 1/4 turn with pliers.
