Drive car for 10 minutes to warm fluid, park on level surface.

Find dipstick (usually red or yellow handle) near back of engine.

With engine idling in Park, pull dipstick, wipe clean, reinsert fully, pull out and check level.

Should be red or pink - if dark brown or smells burnt, needs service.
