Turn shutoff valve clockwise (under toilet). Flush to empty tank. Sponge out remaining water.

Disconnect flapper chain from flush lever. Remove flapper from posts on overflow tube (slide or unhook ears). Note flapper type.

Use pumice stone or ScotchBrite to clean rim where flapper seals. Remove mineral deposits, algae. Smooth surface essential for seal.
4 Step 4: Install New Flapper

Slide new flapper onto overflow tube posts. Ensure ears are properly hooked. Attach chain to flush lever with 1/2" slack.
5 Step 5: Turn On Water and Test
Step 5: Turn On Water and Test
Turn water on slowly. Let tank fill. Flush several times. Adjust chain if needed. Check for leaks around flapper seal.
